Rector's Speech at the 2024 Convocation - CBE Mbeya

The Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, delivered a brief speech today, November 29, 2024, during an Academic Symposium held at the CBE Mbeya Campus as part of the customary preparations for the campus's 11th Graduation Ceremony.

Prof. Lwoga expressed her admiration for the symposium’s invited guests, who are alumni of the institution from various programs. She highlighted that, thanks to the education and experience they gained, these alumni have successfully established ventures after completing their studies and are excelling in the market.

“I am very grateful to those who have come to share their testimonies and experiences in running businesses. This is the essence of providing business education. Our college is currently redefining itself, aiming to offer more practical education. Out of the 20,000 students across all our campuses, 412 have participated in the business incubation program, with 27 from this Mbeya Campus,” Prof. Lwoga said.

She noted that CBE aims to further support students with business ideas so they can achieve their dreams. This initiative will help them gain business experience while still in school, enabling them to employ themselves and others upon graduation.

“We commend and thank all the organizations we collaborate with, and we also call on other institutions to partner with us to deliver practical education. As you can see, as we celebrate 11 years of our Mbeya Campus, we have continued to improve our services, and we have now started offering degrees so that students can advance to higher levels,” Prof. Lwoga added.
